Sherpa vs Veras: two routes to an AI render

Both AI renderers for architects, with fundamentally different approaches. Full transparency: Sherpa is our own product, so Veras gets its real strengths here and we name our own limitations.

The short answer

If your firm works primarily in Revit, Archicad or Vectorworks and wants AI inside the modelling environment: Veras has the broadest BIM integration and is the logical choice there. If you work mainly from SketchUp or work renders and want prompt-free presentation images with your design preserved and European privacy terms: that is what Sherpa is built for, and you can test it free.

Same goal, different philosophy

Veras chooses breadth: a plugin in every major modelling environment, steered with prompts and geometry sliders. For firms that switch between Revit and Rhino per project that is a real advantage, and the Chaos acquisition gives it a solid ecosystem.

Sherpa chooses depth on one way of working: from your own image, without prompts, with controls every colleague understands immediately. That comes with a deliberate limitation we say out loud: Sherpa does not promise photorealism and does not do animations. It delivers the presentable image for tomorrow's conversation, within minutes.

The fairest test: render the same scene in both trials and see which image represents your design best.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Sherpa and Veras?

Veras (EvolveLAB, part of Chaos) is a prompt-driven AI visualisation plugin with integrations for SketchUp, Revit, Rhino, Archicad, Vectorworks and Autodesk Forma. Sherpa is prompt-free: you render from your own viewport or export and steer with controls for light, people, styling and materials, aimed at presentation-ready client images.

Which tool is cheaper?

As of 23 August 2026, a Veras named license costs 59 dollars per month or 348 dollars per year. Sherpa starts at 49 euros per month for 40 credits and can be tried free with 5 renders, no credit card. Which works out cheaper depends on your volume; run the numbers with your own quantities.

When is Veras the better choice?

If your firm works primarily in Revit, Archicad or Vectorworks and wants AI rendering inside that modelling environment, Veras with its broad BIM integration is the logical choice. We say so on our own comparison page too.

When is Sherpa the better choice?

If you want client-ready images from SketchUp or a work render quickly, without writing prompts, with your design preserved, European privacy terms (no AI training, auto-delete after 30 days, GDPR agreement) and a free entry point to see it on your own project first.

Can I switch or test both?

Both tools have a free entry point: Veras a trial with 30 renders, Sherpa 5 free renders without a credit card. Render the same scene in both and compare how recognisably your own design comes back; that is the fairest criterion.
